Due to a lack of interest in the Western Pennsylvania Eventing Association, the board has decided to allow a hiatus for the next several months. The board will revisit whether or not there is sufficient interest in this organization to try to start it up again, or whether it should be disbanded. If you are interested in having the WPEA continue to provide educational opportunities in the future, please let one of the current board members be aware of your position. You may contact any board member listed on the website.
For those of you who knew Jane Allen, I have terribly sad news. Jane took her own life sometime in the second week of July. Jane hunted with Sewickley Hunt, was an avid eventer and a good friend to all who knew her. She moved to Scottsdale, Arizona a good many years ago and never gave up hunting or riding. Hunting was her passion. She had been suffering from severe depression and was on meds under a doctor’s supervision.
I had gotten an email from Jane at the end of June asking me how I was and how my horses were. I wrote back telling her how everyone was and asked her if she was OK- she sounded so sad. She wrote back and said, yes, she was sad, then asked how I knew that. That was the last I heard from her.
I, for one, am terribly saddened by this news as I have so many good, fond memories of Jane.
Happy hunting, Jane. We miss you.
